Grant Cushman - Full Stack Web Developer

Java | HTML | CSS | JavaScript

Hello!!

me-yellowstone

Welcome and thanks for checking out my portfolio. I'm Grant. An aspiring developer currently studying full stack web development at We Can Code IT. I love learning new things and tinkering around to see what I can break and how I can put it back together. I've always been interested in technology ever since I was a kid playing King's Quest II on my IBM PC, Jr. Software has come a long way since then and I'm excited to begin producing things that may inspire others to get in on the fun!

When I am not in front of a computer (or sleeping!), I enjoy cooking, playing in the garden, and I love travelling!! I'm also a huge sci-fi nerd - love watching and reading anything sci-fi related. Unfortunately, I don't have much time for reading or watching anything other than instruction manuals and videos lately!

(Oh- Naps! I've come to realize how much I also love naps!)

Check out my links above and projects below to see what I have been up to. Feel free to connect with me at one of those links, I would love to chat!

These are the skills and tech I am currently studying:

  • Fundamentals of Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Java
  • CSS3
  • CSS Grid
  • CSS Flexbox
  • HTML5
  • Agile (Scrum)
  • Model-View-Control (MVC)

I'm on a journey to learn more and will keep this page updated as I do. Thank you for stopping by!

Recent projects

Virtual Pet Amok Project

game-play-gif

This project is a Tomogatchi-style console application. Our team went through three sprints until we got to this final version. This Java app was designed using Test-Driven Development in IntelliJ. Our team used GitHub for version control and focused on ensuring clean code. We used Git Bash to create branches in our GitHub repository and merge our final project.

FizzBuzzQix Project

code-sample-fizzbuzzqix

FizzBuzzQix is a twist on the popular coding test - where "Qix" is substituted for multiples of 7. This was written using TDD in IntelliJ to test every line of code. I used Git Bash to clone the repository and then push the final assignment back to GitHub.

Savings Account Project

code-sample-savings-acct

This Savings Account project simulates the deposit and withdrawal of funds in a bank account. This was the first assignment where I had to use TDD to drive the development of code. This was also written in IntelliJ. I used Git Bash to clone the repository and then push the final assignment back to GitHub.
